At the trailer launch of Raid 2 on Tuesday, Ajay Devgn shared his thoughts on the evolving dynamics of the film industry and the challenges Bollywood faces at the box office.
Devgn expressed that the industry is currently grappling with uncertainty. "We are still struggling. We are not very sure what the audience will come for or not. We have an idea of how audiences have evolved and changed during the pandemic, especially with the exposure to international content on OTT platforms," he said. "So, we are adapting to it, and that's how we are also changing."
The actor highlighted that this uncertainty is not exclusive to Bollywood. "It's not just that Bollywood films are not working; films all over the world are facing similar situations. Some are working, and some are not. It could be Bollywood, the South film industry, or Hollywood. Everywhere, the situation is the same," Devgn remarked.
Ajay also spoke about how the audience now plays a pivotal role in deciding what to watch. "The audience is deciding what they want to watch and what they don't. They are no longer attracted by film promotions. What they want is content. If your trailer lands well, if the teaser works, and if they like the songs, then the audience will definitely come in. It all boils down to what they want to see," he explained.
Raid 2 is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. It features Ajay Devgn, Vaani Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Saurbh Shukla and is scheduled to release on 1 May, 2025.
